In 1965, Her first working opportunity came in the form of an inhouse designer at a popular boutique in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Paraphernalia.

Soon in 1969, she opened up her own boutique and called it ‘Betsy Bunky Nini’ and in 1978 she started her own fashion line. Even though her initial shows did not do well, she was consistent with her efforts and vision. In 2002, she was honored when she was inducted in the ‘Fashion Walk of Fame’. And in 2009 the National Arts Club honored her for Lifetime Achievement in Fashion.
